Everything here resonates so much with me. I've said this in another comment but when I moved to a new city and wasn't finding friends as fast as I would have liked, I confided in my grandmother that it made me sad I didn't have any friends. She said, "all the friends you don't have by now, you're not going to get.....you're lucky if you get up to 5 friends in a lifetime."

At the time I thought her comment was cynical, almost stunning coming from her as she was the most generous person I've ever known. But now, I know exactly what she was talking about. Time is a wondrous thing. 😉
