Firstly, it's wonderful to learn you come from a country where the elderly are respected, cared for and loved for what they have contributed in their lifetime. Sadly, America can't claim the same mindset.

Secondly, like you, I never want to be a burden to my loved ones. When I can't reasonably do for myself, I'd rather be dead.

Thirdly, we can't live forever. That's the contract we sign from birth. I don't believe in hanging onto to a loved one who is more dead than alive. To me it doens't make sense. It's no quality of life for them and it's torture seeing them suffer.
