Hmm, I’ve been on both sides. As a subordinate I was never afraid to speak my mind in public or private, nor as a manager afraid to accept constructive criticism. I think it depends on how one presents themselves. If you’re open and fair minded, people generally respect you in my experience. Of course, I’ve had my battles, but ultimately I could move on with a clear conscience.
