I agree with you. There's three sides to a story. Your's, mine, and the truth. Everything in moderation. A plant based diet should be more vegetables, whole grains, and fruits in their natural state.
Meat substitutes are an answer to consumers who are in transition from a meat based diet in need of a certain taste to fulfill a perceived void from cultural influences. Capitalists are always willing to fill a need regardless of health benefits.
Cows don't eat meat, nor do they get thier protein from other animals, yet we consume them for the preconceived notion, we need them for protein.
Where do they get their protein? Grass, oats, corn etc. We plump them up with hormones to get them to market quicker and our tissues ingest the residuals of those hormones. I could go on, but why? I truly believe, "to each his own." Nutrition and lifestyle is a personal choice.
