While I respect and accept the scientific explanation of an addictive love and its effect on the brain, I tend to perceive love from a spiritual point of view, so my conclusions are filtered through my heart and soul--the essence of being more than a chemical reaction or dependency.

An ailing heart is the same root cause of which you speak and manifests differently in everyone. The reason the same 12 step programs don't work for everyone.
