I don't ever think of love as lost. The ones we love remain in our hearts for different reasons even if the relationship couldn't sustain itself. I believe souls meet to experience each other for spiritual growth.

Once tht circle is complete, the relationship may dissipate but the lessons learned remain. I've always loved freely and remained open to love after my heart was broken. My cousin used to say I was in love with love. She may have been right.😉
