I like traditional names that carry culture forward. I had a half Black and Japanese college roommate who went by her middle name, Lorraine. When I learned her Japanese name, Hanako, I refused to call her anything else. It changed her perspective on the beauty and uniqueness I saw in her name. It caught on and nobody ever called her Lorraine again. ☺️
