IMHO, we can get bogged down in the mechanics of writing. First, we must know who we are as writers--our strenghs, weaknesses, and how best we express ourselves to resonate or connect with readers. That's wisdom and insight you can't learn in a book of writing. Building upon natural talent is key to success once the basics of proper grammar, sentence structure, syntax, etc. are mastered.

The act of writing is the best teacher.
