It astounds me how far we haven't come in so many areas.

I do wonder how much a mother's influence is the culprit in these gender biases. I'm an only child so I can't comment from experience with my single mother. But I do remember my grandmother showing favoritism to my uncle, my mother's only brother and she felt it too.

I think everything starts at home. You're right, we need to do better, and we can. Hopefully, the younger generation is moving beyond these antiquated standards.
