It's boring because it was created to be a business networking site that began as a recruiting effort to connect people from all different industries. It was a digital resume catalogue. Yawn.

People turned it into a social medi-ish platform because that's what people do. LinkedIn saw an opportunity to build upon the demand and started implementing SM type marketing. Then they created all these different programs to sell to b2b models to generate more revenue. I'm not sure what it is now. Most people don't personally know the people they're connected to, so there you have it. 😉
