Nat, I appreciate your sentiments so much! You hit the nail on the head about the message I meant to convey; no one truly knows how racism affects each person, there are as many different effects as there are people.

Some lose hope; self hate, turn to drugs, crime, violence, homelessness, ...my story is only one, although layered, encapsulating one residual effect.

I don't know what it will take for society to realize and correct the horrific wrongs done to a portion of its citizens.

The population who built this country with bare hands for free, suffered horrendous torture and injustices, then cut out of any means of economic freedom for centuries, while they built generational wealth on the backs of Blacks, no less.

Sad commentary on how far we haven't come. Waiting on the world to change...
