Thanks for commenting and sharing your thoughts. I think you may have taken my response too literally. The author is not responsible for teaching anyone's children but her own. Agreed.

Children learn not by what we say but what we do. Simple. Sticking one's tongue out is an action that perpetuates disregard, anger, defiance--the very thing in my opinion the author shines the light on in her writing about racism and white people. I thought it was counterproductive.

Whenever we have an opportunity to elevate an experience, IMHO, we should. By the way, I love Rebecca's writing and have told her so many times over.
