Very well articulated. Thank you for breaking it down. The question is not whether the laws or rules are unfair, but did she choose to break them without considering the consequences? It's hard to believe she wasn't aware of those consequeces as a world class athelete.

Self sabotage is real on a conscious and unconscious level. Perhaps she couldn't withstand the pressure based on her external circumstances beyond the competition. After all, she was pulled into polar opposite depths of emotion---an extreme high of a fantastic accomplishment and equally extreme low of losing her mother. Incredibly sad on so many levels.
